The free-trade, new-world, global marketplace will resemble a rave. We will be living out of backpacks, paying for water, and every once in a while a cute, fashionable person will walk by with a plate of fruit. Anonomous machine-made music will be piped in everywhere. We will consume and create while we dance to aerobic muzak. This truth will be apparent to all at the year 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The arenas will have BIG sound and DJ's pumping dance music to a croud who has gotten off their asses and recognized that many cultures can groove to the same beat, even as new records are being set on the field below.
At home we listen to seventies disco on 8-track. At night we rave to deep house, techno, ambient, acid jazz... And we carry around a mirrored globe on the end of a stick and shine flashlights at its glittering, glamouring faceted faces.

a waterfall of emotion
